Felix Pakhuis

Unique tastes on a unique location

The Sint-Felix Pakhuis is one of the most valuable warehouses from the 19th century in Antwerp's Eilandje. It was built as a warehouse for bulk goods, such as grain, hops, sugar, cheese, coffee, tea, and wine. Shortly after opening, a fire destroyed the entire building. During the rebuilding, the interior street was created as an emergency separation between the two halves of the building. About 50 years ago, the building fell into disuse. Meanwhile, after a thorough renovation, Sint-Felix Pakhuis is home to the more than 35 kilometers of archives of the Antwerp City Archives, ... and also home to the Wolf pack.

Some fifty years ago, the building fell into oblivion. In the meantime, following a complete renovation, the Sint-Felix Pakhuis warehouse now houses the more than 35 kilometers of archives of the Antwerp City Archives, ... as well as the Wolf's pack.

The same bulk goods from the 19th century are now masterfully applied in the 10 street food kiosks and the 3 bars, for unique experiences. Experiences based on authenticity, quality and the passion and skill of true artisans. All this in a unique setting, resulting in an exceptional total experience.

Upcycling and local production

The design of WOLF Sharing Food Market is inspired by the DNA of the Felix Pakhuis, with a strong focus on sustainability and upcycling. The kiosks are made from recycled materials from ships in the Port of Antwerp, and car headlights from the former General Motors factory are given a second life. Blikfabriek designed the mirrors in the restrooms, and Marius Ritiu built the copper bar.

WOLF goes beyond the concept of a food market: it is a place for sharing, centered around food and convivial experiences. This unique setting invites discovery and connection between visitors. Copper, a symbol of connection, reflects this philosophy. By promoting reuse and local materials, WOLF embodies sustainability and human connection within an industrial and inspiring environment.

Innovative and Sustainable Design by Lionel Jadot

For the interior and design of WOLF Sharing Food Market, WOLF collaborates with Lionel Jadot, a versatile Belgian designer known for his boldness and passion for reuse. He transforms objects into unique creations. For the Felix Pakhuis, Jadot not only designed elements but also brought together a collective of talents, including Marius Ritiu (bar), Benny Conings (kiosks), and Arnaud Eubelen (lighting).

Unique tastes on a unique location

The place name "Brussels" comes from "Broekzele", meaning "settlement (zele) near the swamp (broek)". A long time ago, wolves from the Sonian forest gathered at a specific place in this swampy area, that's whu the current name of our street is: Wolvengracht.

In Wolvengracht, in 1943 architect Alfred Chambon began the construction of the headquarters of ASLK, Algemene Spaar - en Lijfrentekas (General Savings and Annuity Fund), which included the famous counter room. From real wolves to financial wolves, WOLF today welcomes a mob in search of new culinary experiences.

Experiences based on authenticity, quality and the passion and skill of real artisans. All this in a unique setting, results in an exceptional total experience.

Recycle

For the construction of WOLF, maximum use was made of recovered materials, which were already present when the building was the center room of a bank. The signalling boards of the counters, as well as the old desks of the bank clerks, have been converted into lamps. Reserve pieces of the Val Saint-Lambert glass ceiling are reused as decoration. The front panels of the marble counters are used as the bar's counter, and the copper bars of the same counters, as lamps of the toilets. For the kiosks, no less than 700 moulds were recovered to reconstruct a frieze, reminiscent of the frieze of the entrance door, classified as urban heritage.
